Child/Youth Program Co-coordinator
Job Description
7 Week placement based on 40 Hours weekly
Applicant must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the position:
-
between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
-
Registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
-
intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
-
is a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
-
is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
-
is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
This grant is not available to international students.
The employment grant is provided to Threshold Ministries, and the successful candidate will be required to meet Threshold Ministries employment standards. Threshold Ministries is hiring a summer student to assist with the ministry of ICYM.
Inner City Youth Ministry is a Christian non-profit organization in Saint John NB. Our Mission is to help Children, Youth, and Families in Saint John’s priority neighbourhoods thrive. We provide programming and services in order to help meet the social, physical, relation and spiritual needs of our communities.
The Child/Youth Program Co-coordinator will report to the Director of Inner City, and will be responsible for the following tasks:
Assist in planning and preparing for Fundraising events and initiatives
Assist in program development for Children and Youth
Youth Mentorship and program leader
Assist with Food Prep and meal planning
Work alongside Director in building relationships with community partners and residents
Attend week long overnight camp and assist with camp programming
Recruit and develop volunteers
Administrative tasks: Newsletter creation, letter writing etc.
The successful applicant will:
Have experience with Children and Youth
Be creative, collaborative and fun
Be comfortable and familiar with Saint John’s Priority neighbourhoods
Vulnerable Sector Check
Be Willing to travel within NB
Be Willing to complete Safe Church training, and New Brunswick Education Policy 701: Policy for the Protection of Pupils
Certification in, or willingness to complete training for, First Aid/CPR, Food Safety and other relevant designations is an asset.
